Tuesday, October 13th, 1998: The Eastern League has made it official -- Eric Karros is the winner of the Outstanding Hitter Award.
In the 1998 season, the Huntsville first baseman stood out with a .329 batting average, 27 doubles, 1 triple, 36 home runs and 124 RBIs. Karros also had 56 walks, posted a .400 on-base percentage and scored 93 times. |
 | Outstanding Pitcher Award Goes to Harrisburg Hurler
Monday, October 12th, 1998: He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Brandon Webb performed like a veteran on the hill for the Harrisburg Senators and walked away with the Texas League Outstanding Pitcher Award in the process.
The 19-year-old Senators star fashioned a 17-10 won-loss record in 1998 with a 3.10 ERA. In 220.2 innings of work and 29 starts, Webb struck out 165 while giving up 204 hits and 79 walks. He held opposing batters to a .241 average. |
